Richard, tell us how you came to be working in partnership with RS accountants

‘Six years ago, I set up the salon, which I run with my wife Claire. I knew that setting up our own business would be challenging, so before we even opened, I asked around for recommendations for an accountant and business advisor to help us get off on the right foot and make sure we were complying with all the various regulations and requirements.

‘A friend’s father-in-law, who we knew from Welwyn Rugby Club, told us about RS, and recommended them highly.

‘Firstly, they are nice people, and that matters to us. They really know what they are talking about, but they never talk down to us.

‘We felt we could trust them to tell us what we had to do and when we had to do it. Even when we weren’t totally clear about something, they never made us feel that we were asking stupid questions; they were always extremely patient, and treated us as grown-ups!

‘It was great to have someone holding our hands initially, which allowed us to focus on building the business, and now they handle all our bookkeeping, make sure that we do what we need to do to keep our accounts in order, and pay our tax on time!

‘And as well as our day-to-day transactions, Chris is always available for advice and guidance.’
